When the Rochester Aerotek office needs technical professionals to fill contract or direct hire positions, the staffing company goes to RochesterWorks! "It is one of our greatest resources," says Branch Manager Hector Lowery. "We hold Job Fairs at their downtown location periodically. They have a great pool of quality skilled people. The volume of individuals we hire has helped our business grow substantially."

Since 2002, Lowery and his staff of recruiters have worked with Business Services Manager Claudia Gately to place qualified applicants in the commercial industry. As a member of Allegis Group Inc., the largest privately held staffing company in the world, Aerotek looks to find the perfect fit when placing personnel in general labor, clerical, light technical and skilled trades. RochesterWorks! plays an important role in helping to find that perfect fit. "RochesterWorks! pre-screens candidates for us, including doing clerical testing," says Lowery. "Then when we interview (these pre-screened candidates), we can look deeper into things such as communication skills, personality, and making sure the fit is right for the position we're recruiting."
Hiring an average of 40% of candidates who are interviewed through RochesterWorks!, Aerotek benefits from the pool of skilled people who tend to go to RochesterWorks! for assistance with job placement. In addition, RochesterWorks! provides the convenience and privacy of a dedicated office from which Aerotek conducts its on-site interviews.
"We've had tremendous success with RochesterWorks!" says Lowery. "It's amazing how much information they provide, aside from their assistance with recruiting events. We give information about their training grants and on-the-job training to clients who may not be aware of their resources." In addition, Lowery refers candidates to RochesterWorks! one-stop-shop services if they need help with résumé writing, interviewing and other skills. That, in turn, makes it easier for Aerotek to find the perfect job for the candidates and helps lower turnover and unemployment costs.
By working together, Aerotek and RochesterWorks! have achieved "great outcomes" and Aerotek looks forward to continuing the relationship. Says Lowery, "I think RochesterWorks is definitely a very strong program and we are proud to be one of the most considered agencies that they come to when they have applicants who fit our job qualifications."
