RochesterWorks! Partners with Unity Health System to Meet its Recruitment Needs

RochesterWorks! partnership with Unity Health System, which provides a complete network of health care services, has helped the System with its recruitment needs.

Unity had a need for environmental service workers and various direct care positions. To help meet the demand, RochesterWorks! Career Center staff coordinated several on-site recruitment events.

“During the course of five months, we scheduled more than 100 interviews at five different recruitment events,” says Christina Bakewicz, Small Business Resource Specialist at RochesterWorks!

“It was a real time saver for us since RochesterWorks! takes care of the advertising, pre-screening the candidates, scheduling the interviews and facilitating completion of the employment application,” says Hilary Spencer, HR Recruiting Partner at Unity.

Unity has hired a number of people referred through RochesterWorks! The non-profit healthcare provider will continue to conduct interview sessions at RochesterWorks! North Goodman Street Career Center. Every time Spencer interviews job seekers at RochesterWorks!, she finds candidates who have a wealth of experience in a number of areas.

Unity also continues to tap RochesterWorks! for other types of hiring assistance.

For job seekers who need a little help completing Unity’s on-line application, the company refers them to RochesterWorks! where these applicants can have some computer time and meet with a counselor to assist them.

The two organizations are also planning to work together in the future. Recently two RochesterWorks! staff members met with Spencer and some of Unity’s hiring managers at one of its Long Term Care facilities in Greece.

“We discussed staffing issues and creative solutions,” Spencer says.

Plans are to have a recruitment event at the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center targeting qualified job seekers in Greece in the fall. This location is not easily accessible by public transportation and with the rising cost of gasoline, hiring managers are predicting more difficulty in staffing, Spencer says.
