Dee Turns to the Professionals to Help Her Stay Positive and find New Career Path
Delores ‘Dee’ Anderson faced what many job seekers encountered due to changes in the economy and the downfall of various industries. After working for more than ten years as a professional in the mortgage industry performing specialized skills, her position was eliminated.
“Many mortgage companies have gone out of business, or have downsized and there are no new positions being developed, "said Dee. "The only time a position became available was when someone quit or retired!”
At this point in Dee’s career, she was faced with the need to investigate new career paths.
Challenged by the overwhelming pressures of being unemployed, the need to identify her skills, and the prospect of discovering potential new career opportunities, Dee entered RochesterWorks! with a motivation to move forward. In October 2007, she was introduced to a multitude of services from skills assessments to progressive job search techniques and a great deal of networking in between. Not only did Dee take advantage of a vast amount of RochesterWorks! services, she was also empowered by staff both in groups and in individual meetings.
“RochesterWorks! helped me stay positive with new ideas, ways I might not have thought of to pursue my goal including refining my resume and letting me know I wasn’t alone in my search. I had professionals to rely on in my search.”
Ultimately, Dee upheld her drive and willingness and successfully moved through the changes in her professional life. Her warming personality, patience and eagerness to learn eventually paid off.
With great enthusiasm, Dee now begins her new journey in an administrative role where she will have new and exciting opportunities to gain additional skills and possibly train as a paralegal.
