RochesterWorks! Partnership Spotlight

Monroe 2 – Orleans BOCES Strategic Transition to Employment Program-Model Transition Program (STEP/MTP) Grant

Job readiness workshops and services were provided to special education and transition students from several school districts in Monroe and Orleans Counties through RochesterWorks! unique collaboration and partnership with Monroe 2 - Orleans BOCES.

The Strategic Transition to Employment Program-Model Transition Program (STEP /MTP) enabled students to build on current skills and strengths and learn new skills needed for success in the workplace.

Students and staff attended workshops at RochesterWorks! North Goodman Street Career Center. RochesterWorks! staff also offered workshops at Monroe 2 Orleans BOCES Career and Technical Education for other BOCES and WEMOCO students who learned resume writing, effective interviewing, job application completion and proper business etiquette.

Students from the STEP/MTP Grant were also provided with an opportunity to participate in the RochesterWorks Digital Skills for Youth Program. “I like that I can return here after I finish my program. I really felt comfortable here,” said a student in the STEP/MTP program who is responding to a field trip at RochesterWorks Career Center.

Justin Sever another student from the STEP/MTP grant who participates in the Digital Skills for Youth program said, “Everyone has a beginning; I’m just glad my beginning was at RochesterWorks.”

All the representatives from the collaborating organizations and students were pleased with the workshops and look forward to future workshops and collaborations.
